Government publishes National Design Guide
Reasons to choose Wilson Browne
On 1 October 2019, the government published a National Design Guide.
The guide aims to illustrate how well-designed places that are beautiful, enduring and successful can be achieved in practice.
This document is set out in four parts:
- Part 1: outlines the purpose of the guide.
- Part 2: sets out the ten characteristics of beautiful, enduring and successful places.
- Part 3: will eventually consist of a National Model Design Code (this is to follow and will be the subject of consultation).
- Part 4: provides sources of reference and good practice examples.
The focus of the design guide is on good design in the planning system and it is aimed at local planning officers, councillors, applicants and people in local communities.
