Changes to SSP: Update

Reasons to choose Wilson Browne

Following yesterday’s reports that low-paid staff are to be entitled to 80% of their salary during periods of sick leave, today’s indications are that agency workers will still be paid if their shift is cancelled on short notice.

This proposal is designed to further protect those who chose zero-hours contracts. Previously, the government indicated the Employment Rights Bill would give zero-hours contract workers the right to a guaranteed minimum number of hours per week.

Whilst these proposals may be welcomed by many, others have been quick to point out that some choose zero-hours contracts due to the flexibility it gives them – it’s not just a one-way street.
