Will To Remember, With Alzheimer’s Society
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity and the only one to tackle all aspects of dementia.
They have over 40 years of experience addressing the biggest challenges facing the 900,000 people currently living with dementia, and provides support to people facing the most frightening times of their lives – whether that’s through a much-needed listening ear on the phone, an in-person visit or opportunities to connect with others.
Funding ground-breaking research.
Research funded by Alzheimer’s Society has contributed to some of the biggest breakthroughs in dementia research to date. Over 30 years ago, they funded a study which discovered that a protein – amyloid – plays an important role in the causes of Alzheimer’s disease. This breakthrough led to the recent development of new drugs like Donanemab.
Donanemab is proven to slow down the progression of early-stage Alzheimer’s disease – a type of dementia – by more than 20%. This has never happened before.
Why are gifts in Wills important?
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes, and there’s currently no cure.
If you leave a gift in your Will, you’ll be joining a Society made up of amazing people – from researchers and clinicians, to campaigners, fundraisers, carers, people living with dementia and trusted experts. Once your loved ones are looked after, a gift in your Will ensures the causes you care about are supported, even after you’re gone. Gifts in Wills currently fund a third of all Alzheimer’s Society’s work.
We’ve partnered with Alzheimer’s Society to offer Will to Remember – a Will-writing service that helps you to write a simple single or mirror Will for free. Together, we want to remove some of the barriers that can deter people from making a Will or including a gift in their Will, as well as providing support and confidence when planning for the future. We know that writing or updating your Will can, at first, seem a little daunting. But with the right information, and support from your firm, the process can be relatively straightforward. While there is no obligation for supporters who use Will to Remember to leave a gift to Alzheimer’s Society in their Will, many choose to do so, in recognition of a cause they care deeply about.
