Mediation Recommended As A Positive & Practical Alternative Following Family Courts Soaring Levels Of Work

Reasons to choose Wilson Browne

With the Ministry of Justice reporting that between April and June 2021 new cases in Family Courts have increased by 14% – matters relating to children are up by 11% and financial remedy within divorce proceedings by 72% – the pressure upon the Court system is immense and arising delays are inevitable.

Between April and June it took on average 41 weeks for private law cases to reach a final order, up 13 weeks from the same period last year.

Where there is an issue of dispute the Court does not have to be the only option. Family Mediation can be considered as a positive and practical alternative within which:

  • Those participating retain control of the outcome.
  • Discussions are confidential and so alternative possibilities can be explored safely.
  • Discussions can be managed/timetabled in a way to suit, with meetings either in person or via Zoom.

Be it a matter of seeking to resolve arrangements concerning children, or finances either within divorce or upon separation, mediation can be a practical and positive way forward for many people.
