Guidance Published To Protect Versatile Agricultural Land
The government has released new guidance to assessing development proposals on agricultural land which aims to help developers and local planning authorities when considering development proposals that affect agricultural land. The guide explains how local planning authorities can assess proposals to protect the best and most versatile agricultural land from inappropriate and unsustainable development.
The guide also aims to protect versatile agricultural land and soils in England from significant, inappropriate or unsustainable development proposals. Natural England uses these policies to advise on development proposals as a statutory consultee in the planning process.
